Philosophy:

The St’át’imc Laws of health, happiness, generosity, generations, pity, power and quietness are the philosophical basis of Xwisten.  The Bridge River Head Start/Daycare is a play based approach is shaped by the values and beliefs of the place where we live, Xwisten in the St’át’imc Nation and Territory.  Our philosophy and belief is one of children, parents and elders having the right to grow and develop in a positive atmosphere. The St’át’imc Language and culture are fundamental milestones which support child and family identity which encourages positive self-esteem.

Goals:

Our goals of social support, parental involvement, health promotion, and nutrition are encompassed within our early care and learning education, our language, and our culture.  We strongly believe both children and parents have the right to grow and develop in a positive atmosphere. The Bridge River Head Start/Daycare supports our goals which enhance positive life-long learning and benefits our whole community.
